Do you struggle with flaky dry skin and you’re curious to learn how to keep your skin hydrated for longer all day everyday?

Oh, before I continue, I’d like to state it here that skincare isn’t only for ladies, it is for gentlemen too so be sure to share this post with a young gentleman.

Back to our topic of discussion oh how to keep the skin hydrated and supple;

During the hot days, the harmattan season (in West Africa) the increased heat and the dry air can cause your skin to lose more moisture than usual. The harmattan season is similar to winter with cold dry air.

If you want to avoid rough, itchy, dull and lackluster skin, then you need to keep your skin properly hydrated.

Here are four simple and easy to implement tips to keep your skin looking and feeling great always.

4 Ways To Keep Your Skin Hydrated Always

 Drink Plenty of Water

I’m sure you have heard a lot about water being good for your liver, lungs and kidneys. Well, I’d like to inform you that water is also great for your skin.

The easiest way to prevent rough dry skin and to ensure that your skin remains properly hydrated is to increase your daily water intake.

Experts recommend drinking between six to eight glasses of water every day (This is about 3 liters of water) in order to replenish your body’s moisture and ensure that your organs (liver, lungs and kidneys), including your skin, continue to function at optimum efficiency. So grab a glass of water and drink away! You can spice up your water by adding a slice of lemon or ginger.

A lot of people don’t know about toners, if they should use it or how to use it.

A face toner is an absorbing liquid that helps to remove excess dirt, traces of oil and makeup, and clear out your skin pores. In other words, a facial toner thoroughly cleans the skin and helps remove built up surface dead skin cells. It is meant to be used after washing your face but before using your serum or moisturizer.

However, a toner is also great at improving hydration. Since toners help to bind moisture to your skin, it allows more hydration to be absorbed. Moreover, because toners get rid of excess dirt and oil, it also increases the effects of serums, moisturizers and other skincare products.

Soak a cotton pad with toner, then swipe it over your entire face, neck, and chest.

3. Serums

A serum is usually a liquid or gel containing high concentrations of skin actives, which are able to penetrate deeper than other topicals like moisturizers.

Did you know serums are great for skincare all around? Well, now you do! If you do not have a serum in your skin care routine, you are doing something wrong.

Serums are especially beneficial if you are trying to increase your skin’s hydration. In addition to reducing irritation and improving the tone of your skin, serums also stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen.

Collagen is the most plentiful protein in your body. It has various important roles, including providing structure to your skin and helping your blood clot.
Collagen is also found in many other body parts, including blood vessels, corneas, and teeth. You can think of it as the “glue” that holds all these things together. Therefore, using a serum will stimulate the production of collagen, which in turn helps to improve your skin’s health and allow it to retain moisture much better, hereby preventing your skin from being dry.
A little skin science right there but you get the deal.

4. Moisturizer

Everyone has surely heard about a moisturizer, even if you’ve been living at the ends of the earth.

When it comes to improving your skin’s hydration, a good moisturizer is definitely the greatest tool in your arsenal.
Whether your skincare routine consists of fifteen steps or five, there is one in particular that should always be a priority, a moisturizer.

A quality moisturizer will not only reduce dryness but it will also infuse hydration deep within your skin.

You would need to find a product that works for your skin type, doesn’t cause any irritation and doesn’t leave an oily residue.

For best results, moisturize in the morning and before bed, as well as throughout the day as needed.

Follow these steps, and you can be assured that your skin will look great even during dry and hot days.

Which tip will you incorporate right away?
