It’s been well over three months and I’m finally ready for you all to meet my baby girl. If you’re following me on instagram you would have seen her mini introduction, it was all shades of beautiful.

It’s been fun caring for sweet little human, it’s such a huge responsibility and it takes lots of patience, understanding, sensitivity (yes you have to be really sensitive), and education on baby matters, In fact one has to be at the top of their parenting game at all times.

Her name

We named her Amabel. Amabel means lovable so it’s no surprise she’s loved by everyone, she was also born in the month of love (February), we narrowly escaped Valentines day shenanigans, I was so glad even though I was in pain most part of that day.
She’s such a calm child, not cranky at all. You’ll hardly hear her cry, some neighbors had to ask me if I’m sure I have a baby in the house, she’s a good girl you know.
She only cries when she’s uncomfortable, hungry or needs some cuddling.

Feeding time is bonding time, nobody loves to play with their stomach, she eats a whole lot. She latched so well from day one so we had no problem in this regard.

She loves water, I think all kids do. Bath time is a huge part of our relaxation routine. A little bit of play, lots of cooing and aahing, mild massages and lots of water. I’m guessing she’ll be one of those kids who’ll go into the bathroom when you aren’t looking and waste all the water, soaps and oil.

She turns us into choristers whenever she pleases. We figured she loves songs so we play lots of kids rhymes with beautiful video illustrations. We also sing gospel songs and lullabies to her when putting her to sleep.

Watching TV

I think we introduced her to visuals a little bit early or maybe she formed the habit herself. She’s usually up at night and putting her to sleep can be really though even after our night routine, when all else fails, I prop her up with pillows making sure she’s comfortable, then I lay down beside her and sleep off, she has no other choice than to join me.

She loves talking, when I say talking I mean lots of oohs and aahs and she loves it when we have this mom and daughter conversation. We discuss a lot, I say something and wait for her to respond and while I speak she remains silent, the conversation continues in that manner. Sorry I won’t tell you what we talk about, it a secret lol! When I speak to her she responds like she really understands what I’m saying.
She’s also very observant and tries to imitate some things I do like when I look straight into her eyes and open my mouth, stick out my tongue, turn from side to side or look up and down.

She gets excited whenever we go out, sit out or take a walk. She likes the brightness outside and she doesn’t fail to express her pleasure. She’s fascinated by the sky, the tall trees, flowers and everything else she can set her eyes on.

PHCN can never be trustworthy, they just cut off power supply when you aren’t prepared. Trust my baby girl to scream before you find your way to get the electric lamp. She is a child of light so she doesn’t tolerate any form of darkness.

How can a little baby know how to playfully hurt someone. While feeding, she looks deep into my eyes and bites me real hard and when I wince in pain she gives me her ever charming smile, I wish I could smack her lol! but as they always say, a baby does no wrong.

Sucking on her thumb

I wish I could stop her from doing this right now but I don’t think it it would be possible as she uses it to sooth herself. She formed this habit the moment she discovered her hands and she even rejected a pacifier, her thumb was way easier to get used to.
I even had to research on ways to stop a baby from sucking their thumb and I discovered that some babies usually quit the habit before they turn one, I pray she does else I’ll be tempted to do those harsh things some moms do.
I’ve also tried arresting her hands, I hold her hands and explain what I’m doing and why I’m doing it to her and she’ll just start smiling. Since it helps her to stay calm, I’ll just let her be for a while though.

Her smile and laughter

She smiles when I repeat the sounds she makes, she smiles when she sees familiar faces or hears familiar voices. My heart melted the first time she smiled at me, it felt like I was being rewarded for all of my little efforts.
She smiles a whole lot but I don’t know why she decided to give me some attitude while we were shooting these photos, I think it was because it was her first time seeing the photographer.

Thanks for reading, see you soon.
