With every good thing comes the not so good part. I’ve been growing my natural hair for well over a year and I’ve encountered every natural hair problem on this list and I’m sure they aren’t new to any natural haired lady.
Our curly/coily strands love to play with each other so they tend to tangle up a lot.
As long as your tangles, it would also break. Breakage is okay but not when it’s too extreme. Even healthy natural hair breaks as a result of single strand knots, tangles and manipulation. I’m so sorry to announce to you that there’s no magic product that will fix hair breakage.
Have you wondered why people ask you questions like “did you cut your hair?” One minute your hair is hanging over your shoulder and the next minute it’s a teeny weeny afro. Shrinkage is normal, it’s one of the attributes of healthy natural hair.
- Single strand knots
Single strand knots are caused when single strands of hair curl up around itself. The knots are so tight, only a fairy could have tied them and the most annoying part is that you can’t loosen them, you just have to snip them off.
- Hair balls all over the place
After detangling and styling your hair what do you find? Hair balls!! They’re so annoying huh? Sorry you can’t do anything about it.
They tell you to moisturize and you do it like your life depends on it but your hair still feels dry. You’re not alone sister.
- Wash day
How many persons are scared of wash day as much as I am? I have to pre-poo, shampoo, deep condition, detangle and style my hair. That might end up taking the whole day but it’s all worth it.
