Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. Habakkuk 2:2
I recently attented a vision board hangout organised by Sophie of growing woman blog.
But hey, what’s a vision board?
A vision board is a pictorial representation of your goals. To create a vision board, you bring together images which represent your goals. These pictures should be able to motivate you to work hard until you achieve them.
It’s okay to write your goals down in your notepad but even better is a visual representation of those goals.
The good thing is that you can put your vision board where you’ll see it daily, that way, it’ll serve as gentle reminders for when you may get lazy or unmotivated.
I took a picture of my vision board and saved it as my phone’s wallpaper because I spend a lot of time on my phone. That way, it will always be in my face and so far this little trick has been working.
When I saw the flyer for the vision board hangout, I quickly signed up.
Meeting up with other creatives and bloggers is something I’d love to do a lot more this new year so I took advantage of the opportunity.
The event held in Portharcourt; the city where we all live in, at a location called pleasure park. We chose a nice spot at the restaurant to create our vision board. It will be nice to point out that we were the centre of attraction, passersby always came around to see what we were up to. Curiosity kills the cat lol! It looked like we were playing when we meant business, it was such a fun event!
How we made our vision boards
Sophie brought with her everything we needed to make our vision boards; cardboards, markers, glue, magazines and scissors. All we had to do was cut and paste images from the magazines which aligned with our goals for the year on our cardboards
What does my vision board mean to me?
The pictures on my vision board mean a lot more to me. For example the fitness goals you see up there signifies strength, focus and passion.
Whenever I feel unmotivated or want to give up, I simply look at that picture and I’m motivated to do more. The picture of Dimma Umeh gives me the drive to keep going. One look at it, and I tell myself “hey Vanessa, you can do this! Keep going!”
The highlight of my vision board is my blogging goal that’s why it’s so large, I can never lose track when it’s always staring at me. I plan to take my blog to a whole new level with God’s grace of course.
I love the fact that I was able to capture my goals for this year in a very simplified way. I even made my board look very simple and almost plain because I wouldn’t want any distractions. I’m putting it up here so you all can hold me accountable!
At the end of this year, I’ll be proud to look back at my progress and give myself a tap on the back!
